Art School Confidential (2006) *

I stopped paying attention to Terry Zwigoff after the cretinous Bad Santa, and it wasn't until nine years after its release that I realised this reunion with Ghost World creator Daniel Clowes even existed.
Compared to Ghost World, sadly, it must be counted a considerable disappointment. But Clowes and Zwigoff's failures are more interesting than most people's successes, and while this lacks the vividness and tight narrative control of their first collaboration, it still offers more than most by way of acting vignettes and quirky attitudes and observations. A near-miss that could have been a masterpiece.
